Bulb flats are a form of steel plates with an upright edge (bulb) with an optimum weight/strength ratio.
De Boer Staal has a wide assortment of bulb flats in Grades A, AH36 and DH36 that are primarily used in shipbuilding, bridge building and for the laying of rail tracks.
Bulb flats deliver buckling resistance at a lower weight than flat bars or angles and are the most cost-effective, efficient and corrosion-resistant solution for reinforcing the vessel's hull. Moreover, because of their rounded edges there is no need for edge grinding before painting, thus saving time and money.
