In order to meet the standards of an emergency response and rescue vessel and the intended future operations, the ship is undergoing major modifications. For example, the ship will be equipped with an extra bow thruster, fast rescue boat and an Ampelmann installation: a special extendable stable gangway. On the deck a large accommodation unit will be built to house offices, treatment rooms, storage space and cabins for the approximately 40 employees.
For this ship conversion, De Boer Staal supplied a complete ship building kit consisting of 156 tons of sheet steel, profiles and Bulb flats in Grade A shipbuilding quality with 3.2 LR (Lloyd’s Register) certificate. All steel was blasted and coated with two-component shop primer Sigmaweld MC in the De Boer Staal own steel preservation line. De Boer Snijbedrijf cut the steel so size, marked and set it and provided it with fusing edges. The steel was delivered to the shipyard on flat racks in logistic order to ensure an efficient and smooth construction process.
